Open to both University of Georgia students and community members, this program is designed to create knowledgeable, compassionate, and inspired vinyasa yoga teachers.

Rooted in philosophy, embodied alignment, anatomy, and creative exploration, this training also provides tools to help you find your unique voice and apply the philosophy of yoga in everyday life.

Your Instructors

Taryn Vander Hoop is a lifelong movement explorer, dancer, choreographer, and internationally recognized yoga and dance teacher. Known for her flowing, inventive sequences and encouraging presence, she inspires students to discover joy, freedom, and ease in both body and mind.

Taryn holds a 200-Hour Power Yoga certification (2009), a 300-Hour certification from Laughing Lotus Yoga Center, Aerial Yoga Training from Om Factory, and is a Yoga for Cancer (ycC) certified teacher. She has led 200-hour teacher trainings worldwide, taught at the Korean National Yoga Conference and Union Square Summer Thursdays, and guided transformative retreats in India and Mexico. She also founded the first Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training at Rutgers University.

Currently, Taryn serves as Chair and Associate Professor at LMU, continuing to share her passion for movement and mindful living with students around the globe.

Barbara Powers received her M.F.A. from the University of Washington and her B.F.A. from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She graduated high school at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, majoring first in ballet and then modern dance. She continued her pursuit of modern dance at the American Dance Festival where she received special mention in the New York Times for her performance in Laura Dean’s Tympani in 2008. Prior to her formal education, she trained at the Milwaukee Ballet School in her hometown. This dance training, and the mentoring instruction from so many wonderful teachers allowed her to pursue a career in dance, starting first with the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company where she toured Italy, France, and the Continental U.S. In addition, Barbara has had the opportunity to tour Mexico with Li-Chiao-Ping Dance; perform in St. Louis, Dallas, and Chicago with The Radio City Christmas Spectacular as a Rockette; in Milwaukee and New York with The Catey Ott Dance Collective; and at Jacob’s Pillow, The Joyce Soho, and Skidmore College with Skybetter and Associates.  

Scholarships and grants from Future Kicks and Career Transition for Dancers allowed Barbara to transition into teaching where she instructed students at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY in yoga and Pilates. At the University of Washington, she taught studio courses for beginning through advanced students in ballet, modern, and jazz. She also taught Introduction to Dance and Anatomy for Dance as an instructor of record at UW. Barbara is a certified vinyasa yoga, restorative yoga, Pilates mat, and meditation instructor, and has taught celebrities, individuals and groups throughout New York, Wisconsin, Washington, Utah, as well as workshops abroad.  

Patricia Pinto is the Co-Founder of Lila Flow Yoga Programs and Love Surf Yoga Retreats. She has taught thousands of Yoga and Pilates classes and led more than 50 yoga retreats and Yoga and Pilates Mat trainings worldwide. With an interest in alternative therapies since 2001, her trainings include those in the traditions of Ashtanga, Vinyasa Power, Meditation, Mindfulness, Shamanic Healing, Reiki, Yin, Mobility, Pilates Mat, Pilates Apparatus, Neuroscience, Therapeutics, EMDR Therapies, Kundalini, Thai massage and so much more. Her extensive knowledge and casual demeanor is what makes Patricia so accessible; she is a seasoned professional yet approachable and friendly. She currently teaches Mindfulness and Meditation for the United Nations, University of Miami, Core by Hyperice, Teacher Trainings around the world and locally in Miami and New York City.
